_____________
Dear Friends,
When I found these turquoise slab stones, they felt alive.
Not every stone felt this way. But enough did that I was able to make 20 necklaces.
I had heard stories about some turquoise like this having sentience, being aware and being something that would bond to you.
And here it was. The stones talked to me. And they had a lot to say. I should say that all stones talk to me, but these seemed so loud and like they were happy I found them.
The Ancients Knew The Talking Stones
Living stones like this are put on earth by spirit to bond with you and become your companion. Those who traditionally were closer to the earth and nature knew this.
-
Native Americans like the Hopi believed that stones, especially turquoise, held the breath of life and spiritual presence. They were used in sacred altars and rituals, treated as more than objects—each stone was honored as a being.
-
The Zuni believed some stones were truly alive, with spirits inside them. Fetishes carved from turquoise and other sacred materials were spoken to, fed, and carried for their spiritual guidance and protection. These weren’t symbols—they were spiritual companions.
-
The Navajo viewed sacred stones like turquoise as gifts from the Holy People. They held living power, carried the energy of sky and water, and were treated as sacred allies in healing and protection.
-
The Apache believed powerful stones—especially turquoise—could enhance hunting and protect warriors, and some oral traditions say these stones formed where the rainbow touched the earth. They were seen as spirit-charged gifts from the land.
What the Stones May Tell You
These stones don’t speak in words. But if you’re quiet, you might feel something—an image, a memory, a sudden knowing that wasn’t there before.
You may sense their protection when you need it most. Or feel the weight you’ve been carrying begin to lift.
You may begin to heal—gently, steadily—as the stone helps reconnect you to you to the healing powers of mother earth.
And sometimes, the blessings come: inspiration, renewal, even rain after drought - a blessing of abundance.
These are the ways the stones speak. And after wearing them for a while, the world seems less alive when you don't wear them.
Three Other Stones Added To Help
I added goldstone and chrysocolla to act as amplifiers, helping you better receive the voice of the turquoise. It strengthens the signal, especially when you’re feeling disconnected.
I added hematite to help ground you in what is real, so you can live the message instead of just hearing it. And I added chrysoc
Together, they help you hear clearly and walk in the beauty of spirit's creation, color and light.
A Family Heirloom For You To Pass Down
In the American Southwest, turquoise pieces like this are believed to hold great spiritual power. They’re not just worn—they’re treasured, protected, and passed down through generations.
This is one of those pieces.
If it calls to you, listen. Trust that it may be choosing you, just as it chose to come out of hiding now. It’s ready to begin its journey with you—and maybe with those who come after you, too.
Namaste,
