Your Spiritual Reading for Today - Stifling emotions can prolong suffering

You may be familiar with the stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance. The consequence of loss is not linear. Your anguish may move in and out of these emotions, plus more. You convince yourself that you are OK and attempt to rise above your feelings and feel the need to keep a “stiff upper lip” in public.

If you stifle this process, when your guard is down, your buried feelings will spill forward. Following significant and even seemingly minor losses, it is critical for your future wellbeing to experience and process all the stages of emotion.

Do the work, look within. Allow processing of loss. The reward is clarity and a brighter future, unburdened from unexamined emotion.
