This year I was fortunate enough to find authentic native Nepalese spiritual bone carvings including these turtle totems.

Turtles are considered sacred in Nepal, and are often used in their jewelry as talismans to provide abundance and protection the two things that make it easy to feel secure and happy. In their legends, lord Vishnu took the form of a turtle to save the universe.

But these days Chinese manufacturers have taken to making resin cast forgeries of this turtle art which is most of what you see on the internet these days.  I even  saw a lot of the fake stuff at the Tucson gem show this year.

So I count anyone who has an authentic piece like this blessed, as it has the ancient powers of protection and abundance for which it was intended. 

After all, turtles are well protected with their shells, and find it easy to find food, so they actually represent easy abundance in many native cultures.  They lay on logs in the river most of the day, happy to soak up the sun and live their easy lives.

I added to this pendant the following beads.

Lemon Violet - This very rare vintage stone is a combination of lemon quartz, the stone of happiness, and amethyst the stone of higher consciousness, protection and even abundance.   

I’ve only seen lemon violet once, found in a warehouse in India where it had been stored for 50 years, and I brought it all.  As far as I know, we have the only pieces available on the market today.  I’ve put all I have left into this necklace.

Last year I also had a few other bone carvings from Nepal which sold immediately so I tried to get more.  But due to communications issues, and remoteness, it was impossible. 

When I sell these, I won’t be able to get more for about a year, and maybe not then.  I was only able to find one source for authentic carvings.
